Nintendo Switch’s Octokids and Squidkids are preparing for an exciting new update on April 2. In Splatoon 2. Splatoon 2 is a colorful "shoot them up". Nintendo takes on a new definition on first-person shooters by utilizing ink instead of bullets. The game has been stagnant in updates but recently Nintendo has announced twelve new weapons and a spring theme Splatfest in Ver.4.6.0.

In Splatoon 2, there are events called Splatfest, which are festivals celebrating a certain theme. Last Splatfest theme was wizards versus Knights. Players are to pick a side and compete against the opposite side. The spring theme is who would win in a race. Players have the option to choose from Team Tortoise and Team Hare. In order to win the Splatfest, players compete in turf wars. Turf wars are when players spray their ink in different arenas and whoever spreads the most wins.

This update also introduces a whopping twelve new weapons. Splatoon 2 already has over 50 weapons and these weapons will either destroy or compliment fan favorites. In addition, badges are being added to the game. The badges will act as a rank system for weapons players play often. There are a total of four badges and each determines how much ink was turfed. The greatest badge being gold and the lowest badge being red.

The update also introduces fresh kicks and more clothing choices. The Splatoon series is known for taking inspiration from street fashion. They take on new designs by adding pastel colors for spring like vibe.

The Splatfest will take place on April 19. It will last for two days. Players will already have the option to choose a team and receive the default Splatfest shirt.

Splatoon 2 is available on Nintendo Switch for $59.99 and can be bought physically and digitally.
