"Did you see what Johnny got Tiara for Valentine's Day?!" Ah, these are words all of us have heard at one time or another. For most, whether you're a teenager, adult or child this holiday is one of the most anticipated holidays of the year. Like Christmas, Hanukkah, and birthdays this holiday makes the entire month significant for most. It's February: the month of love. The shortest month with its 28 or 29 days and is an important part of our culture. Valentine's Day is a time where gifts can be exchanged for love and friendship. Whether it's a gift to your best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or parents it's a lovely gesture to bestow on another individual. Well, sometimes it does not always work out that way. There might have been a test on Friday that your loved one was stressed about, a paper might have been due on Monday that required all their time to be taken up or maybe they just did not have the money.

Valentine's day is on a very awkward date mainly because the money from the last refund check is gone and the although the second refund check is coming it's barely cashed in time to run to the store and grab a gift or two. Sadly enough for those who don't get refund checks well we're out of luck. There are many ways to prepare for this day of love from cutting back on the spending, making a change jar, or even taking money aside for the holiday. Although these seem like rather simple tactics sometimes we just don't prepare well enough. So where does this leave us? With a bad taste in our mouths about a once love filled holiday. Here's the remedy to your Valentine's Day nightmares lovers.

Affordable Dates in Savannah:

• Going to the Beach: We are all at the convenience of the beach. Tybee Island is only a half hour away. Travis Alston a freshman accounting major, says "One of the cheapest dates would have to be taking a walk on the beach and sitting and watching the sun set."

• Watching a Movies: Although going to the theatre is not free, if you go early enough and let your date choose the movie, you'll reap the benefits of putting out the cash.

• Having a Picnic: We have a beautiful campus and often have beautiful weather to match. If it so happens to rain, you can always set something special up in the quick café, student center or in your dorm. Kendra King, freshman "I would love to have a picnic on the field across from the Payne parking lot."

• Participating in School Activities: There is always something to do on campus and often there is a club hosting an event for the special day.

• Try being Creative: Sometimes it takes just a little extra thought to make an already special day even more memorable.

Creative/Reasonable Valentine's Day Gifts:

• Try Making or buying a Card- They are a small gesture but whether hand-made or store bought; it's not about where you got it from it's the message inside that counts

• Give a Small Bear- A little bear with a cute little story to get with it, who can resist the cute little ball of fuzz?

• Write or Recite a Poem- meaningful word, a strong message and love? You cannot go wrong with t and love? You cannot go wrong with that.

• Going out to Eat- Many restaurants offer specials and discounts for this special holiday

• Sometimes the best and the cheapest Valentine's Day gift are just saying Happy Valentine's Day! You never know how someone's holiday has been
