Women with hair, nails, makeup, stylists - you name it businesses were attendees at the Mind Your Business Cocktails and Conversations Conference at The Hyatt Place in Pooler on Mar. 31.

Local Nail Technicians Tina Huynh and Rashounae Paulk hosted the non-profit business savvy event with the goal of other young women networking with each other who may not have known other business women prior to the conference.

The conference had four parts within the four hours it was held that included: Tips about branding and business etiquette, networking, critique hour, giveaway prizes, games, and more.

Huynh said, “I really think we needed this event so that we could connect with each other.” Also, “It should be about collaboration and not competition.”

Attendee Shafon Monae, a local makeup artist shared her thoughts on why she attended the interactive conference. She expressed “I really wanted to meet other entrepreneurs in the city…I just wanted to meet more people because I felt like I haven’t branched out enough or networked enough.”

This event was sold out and Paulk stated that this may be a quarterly thing because she thinks “it is something that we really need to do, something that hasn’t been done before…very overdue.”

Refreshments were served, everyone left with a business card of another business woman and smiles on their faces. Huynh and Paulk say if there is another event like this, they will be in different locations as well.
