The Division of Enrollment Management at Savannah State University (SSU) is offering New STAR (New Students Testing, Advisement, and Registration), a program designed to provide incoming students and their parents with a jump start on completing testing, advisement, financial aid, registration, housing, meal and other arrangements for matriculation.

There are four remaining New STAR session dates: June 20, July 10, July 11 and July 18. Students will need to set up appointments prior to their desired date of visitation and should bring a picture I.D., a copy of their letter of admittance and a blue or black ink pen.

New STAR enables students to complete the enrollment process in advance of the August orientation sessions. This will give participants more free time to take full advantage of the many enrichment programs offered during orientation. Additionally, a selection of New STAR students will be grouped into learning communities offering increased academic and peer support during their first semester. The program aims to bolster students' aspirations to reach for a high level of academic success for the duration of their college experience.

Students requiring testing must arrive in room 112 of Whiting Hall by 7:30 a.m. Advisement and registration will be conducted between 12-5 p.m. The cashier's office will be able to take payments, residential services will be available for residential tours, and financial aid staff will be available to meet with parents for consultations while students are testing. The Office of Admissions will also be conducting tours of the campus at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All activities will conclude by 5:00 p.m.
