Picnic in the Park

Savannah held its Picnic in the Park event at Forsyth Park on Sunday, Oct. 6, downtown from 3pm to 9pm.

Picnic in the Park is held every October, and always attracts a large crowd at this historic park. This is one of Savannah’s largest musical event outdoors, and it’s also free for the public to come and enjoy! This event was attended by many people in the community whocame out to enjoy music, food, family, and fun.

Alice Brothers and Janice Robinson are two friends that attended the event.

Brothers said, “I love this event, and I look forward to it each and every year. I’m not really sure who the particular group names are, but I look forward to seeing everybody."

Robinson said, “I heard about this event on the radio and newspaper. I just love seeing the different people walking around and talking to people and hanging out with my friend Alice”.

There were several food trucks and vendors that attended this event as well as a competition that involved a picnic decoration contest that individuals could register for. The theme this year was “Color Your World with Music”. No picnic setting was needed to come out and enjoy the Savannah Philharmonic Picnic in the Park.

“This is our second year coming to this event and we heard about it just through word of mouth, because we live here”, Maren Moss said.

When asked about their favorite part, Drew Arrington said, “I like having a whole bunch of people here, all the cool tents and themes”.
