The Lady Tigers Defeat the Lady Spartans 59-53

The Savannah State University Lady Tigers pulled out a win Monday night against the Norfolk State University Lady Spartans, 59-53.

In the first quarter the Lady Tigers were up by one, but then lost the lead in the second quarter to end the first half 23-21. 

Coach Cedric Baker said that during half time he told the girls to "be prepared, be lethal, and come out quick."

With Baker's motivational halftime speech, the Lady Tigers went on a 10-point lead to finish the third quarter.

The win helped the Lady Tigers earn their ninth win of the season.

The Lady Tigers had three players scoring double figures including Gaby Moss, who was the leading scorer finishing with 16 points.

“My game plan was to focus on taking good shots,” said Moss

Kenyata Hendrix finished with 13 points and Jeremica Edwards with 10 points and 8 rebounds also contributed on offense to help lead the team to victory.

The Lady Tigers will play Allen University on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
