SSU Baseball falls to Georgia Southern 6-5

The Tigers played Georgia Southern on Wednesday April 19^th at Tiger Field.

The Tigers and GSU was left scoreless in the first inning.

In the top of the second, Southern’s Baldwin doubled to left center, 2 RBI; McDonald scored; McWhorter scored, giving Southern a 2-0 lead. Southern continued to score in top of the second as Wren hit by pitch, scoring an RBI; Baker advanced to second; Curry advanced to third; Baldwin scored. Martin walked, RBI; Wren advanced to second; Baker advanced to third; Curry scored.

SSU gets their first points on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Pitcher Khalyd Cox tripled to right field, scoring an RBI; Jalen ATTERBURY scored. Southern is still up 4-1.

Southern scored again in the top of the 6^th as Wren singled to left field, advanced to second on the throw, RBI; Baldwin scored.

SSU continued fighting in the bottom of the 8^th, as 2^nd Baseman Jacob Lightle singled to right field, scoring an RBI; LUKEN,B. advanced to second; DAVIS,T advanced to third; LOPEZ,J. scored. 1^st Baseman Marcus Mitchell hit into double play 2b to ss to 1b, RBI; LIGHTLE,J. out on the play; LUKEN,B. advanced to third; DAVIS,T scored. Short Stop Daryl Harper singled to pitcher, scoring an RBI; LUKEN,B. scored. SSU is only now down 4-5.

SSU comes through in the clutch in the bottom of the 9^th as Center Fielder Turner Davis doubled down the lf line, scoring an RBI; GERDTS, K. scored. Tying the game 5-5

Southern closes the game as Greene singled to right field, scoring an RBI; McDonald advanced to second; Ballard scored, unearned.
